my favorite thing about october: halloween decor

Andy and I look forward to this season every year. When the school supplies fade away and the fun holiday decor starts emerging. Before we are bombarded with Christmas music and the never ending aisles of ornaments, before the onslaught of Thanksgiving scarecrows and signs, we have Halloween in all it’s merriment.

There is something so fun about decorating for Halloween. I think for us, we love to mix the erie with the pretty. We aren’t ones for the campy decor, but do love a good “Haunted Mansion” look.

It can be a little daunting when you want to keep your interior decor looking nice without making it feel overwhelming. Some Halloween decor can be “too-much” and leave you feeling like Oriental Trading invaded your space.

If you are looking for some good pieces to add to your home to help you decorate, I have picked a few of my favorite pieces that are perfect for this Halloween season. Subtle enough that your house isn’t screaming “IT’S HALLOWEEN” , but enough to let people know you mean business.

Untitled1. Tree Branch Candelabra / 2. Matte Black Iron Candelabra / 3. Gold Mercury Glass Pumpkin Lantern / 4. Black Lace Candles / 5. Gold Skull Pillow / 6. Black Lace Pumpkins / 7. Matte Black Service Ware / 8. Skull Dessert Plates / 9. Pressed Flower Skull / 10. Skull Vise

Now, in case you were wondering what Halloween has looked like at the Casseday’s in years past, I have a treat for you (no Halloween pun intended). We didn’t decorate last year because all our decorations were in storage and this year we won’t be back into our house. Welcome to Halloween circa 2011 all the way from our sweet little house in Morgantown, West Virginia.
