Design and Inspired, Make it Girl-DIY!

Embroidered Bow Sweater

I love some good DIY. It’s as simple as that. I could spend an entire Saturday weekend crafting, making, gluing, sewing… if you can make it, I will try and do it.

Lately, I have been embroidering everything that I can get my hand on. I love taking a plain sweater/shirt and giving it some flare. J.Crew has these amazing sweaters and with some needle and thread you can make it as unique as you are. I decided to go with the classic bow to give my sweater a chic vintage flare.

1. Grab a sweater, an embroidery hoop, some thread, a needle and scissors. I used about 3 strands of embroidery floss. You can use more or less depending on how think you want your stitches.

2. You can sketch out your design or free hand, I did a little bit of both. Slide the embroidery hoop so your sewing area is tight.

3. Begin to stitch your design. I used a simple split stitch to give it more dimension.

4. Finish your design and wear it with style! My bow is a little uneven but I decided I liked it. It gives it more personality.

I would love to see if you make one! Just send it my way…or tag me in your Instagram photos @EmilieMarianDesigns.
