A Guide on Taking Meaningful and Beautiful Travel Pictures
(Horse and Jaunting Buggy at Muckross House in Killarney National Park, Ireland)
Every once in awhile, I have the pleasure of guest blogging over at Grace Belle Blog. If you haven’t checked them out, you should. It is a super sweet blog all about travel, beauty, living authentically, and more. This post was featured last week on their blog but I have wanted to share this is all of you too!
These past few months have been a blur and so much has been going on; I feel like I have glossed over some big things, and have forgotten to really share what exactly has been going on. Even though, I’m sure, most of you already know, I’m pregnant and that is a huge blessing and miracle. But I feel like I have so much more to share and I haven’t been fair to all those who truly care. So, I’m sorry, this is long overdue.
So currently, I am 20 weeks pregnant, but this story needs to go back about 25 weeks.
Maternity shoots are quickly becoming one of my favorite shoots. I feel like I say that on just about every shoot I have, but there is something extremely special about documenting a new life about to be born and the love between the family.
Chris and Jamie are sweet friends of ours who own the crossfit gym, Crossfit Helix, that we belong to. They are super fun and constantly keep us laughing and Jamie can still kick some major a$$ while being super pregnant! She puts me to shame…
Chris and Jamie already have an adorable two year old, Haddie and will be welcoming their new little one, Lillie, in just a few months. Haddie completely stole the show on these photos and she even got to see a “choo, choo” at the very end. We met in a local park and then headed to downtown Greeley to the old train station. Their shoot was filled with lots of plaid, pink shoes, trains, and lots of kisses.
Come see how much fun we had… and stay till the end. There is a bit of a surprise!
One of the best things about being a photographer is getting to meet new friends and spend sweet time with them while you capture their special moments. I had that experience this past month with Merissa and her sweet family. Merissa and I crossfit together at the same gym and while, we never officially really meet, she saw some of my photos and got in touch with me so I could take their family photos.
We meet in downtown Greeley where there is some really neat graffiti and some amazing backdrops for photos. I am a sucker for brick, concrete, and metal doors so it was a match made in urban heaven.
My photography business is not large, it isn’t super fancy, it isn’t really my livelihood. What it is though, is something near and dear to my heart. Through my lens, I have been blessed with the opportunity of meeting some amazing new faces, spending time with some of my best friends, and through it all, capturing sweet moments that will last.
This past month, I was asked to donate a session for a cause that is extremely important to me. While preparing for the silent auction, I put together a slideshow of some of my favorite photos. Some are old, some are new, but they are all extremely special to me.
These are just few of those smiling faces. Take a peek, you may be in one :)!
I have always loved engagement shoots because you can feel the love between the two people. It’s almost tangible. But I think that my new favorite shoot is when I get to shoot a maternity shoot for the same couple I did an engagement for. It makes my heart overflow.
I have known Emily since high school. She is one of my dearest friends. It doesn’t matter how much time we have between us, when I see Emily, I go back to us being silly high schoolers who and sang in our cars at the top of our lungs and ate Qdoba every single day for one summer. I love that we are still in each other’s lives.
I shot Emily and Dave’s engagement photos two years ago (You can see those beautiful pics here), and a blink later, Emily and Dave are about to welcome their first child. It was such an honor to be able to shoot the beginning of their next adventure.
