Oh sweet friend, thank you for meeting me here again and for reading my heart. It’s never easy to spill yourself all over the internet especially if you are about to get vulnerable. Hold on tight, because I am about to share some pretty deep stuff.
At Home with Flourish and Hope: The Master Bedroom
By far one of my favorite rooms in our house is our bedroom. It just has this inviting feel to it that makes me want to snuggle in and read a book on rainy afternoons or just bask in the sunlight with the Tron (our cat). I had so much fun decorating this room because most of our decorations in this room are handmade or very sentimental pieces from our life. Andy really only had requirement and asked for it to not be super girly… I think we did a pretty good job, his side is very manly and stark, while mine is pretty much jewelry, perfume, color, and lots of pictures.
I always feel so honored when family asks me to be a part of their memories and take their photos. This past week I had the pleasure of taking pictures for Andy’s sweet cousin Courtney and her two little girls. It was so much fun and those girls are the sweetest. We played with flower crowns, roses, and a whole lot of bubbles! Come take a peek…
Hey sweet readers! One of the things I love to do is design for my friends and family, especially when it comes to invites. I have had the joy of throwing some showers for friends and family the for me, the best part about planning is the invitation and decor design.
Our little dining room is one of my favorite places in our house but I have to confess, we rarely use it. We do play a lot of games at this sweet table but our meals right now consist of a highchair and a radius of food on the floor so we normally eat in the kitchen.
I have been wanting to write this post for so long. My heart has so many feelings (a bit dramatic) but this year alone has shown me just how precious friendship is and how we as women need girlfriends. I’m not just talking a good gal pal here and there, I’m talking about soul friends, people who see you and know you. Who are willing to walk your journey with you and help you when you stumble, pick you up when you fall, and above all, love you through thick and thin.
A couple of weeks ago, Blush, the boutique I own popped up in a local flower shop, Cottonwood Florists. We had the amazing opportunity to create flower crowns and do a bit of shopping. It was such a fun day and I’m so glad I brought my camera to snap these beautiful ladies and their crowns… I didn’t get to snap everyone’s pictures, but it was so fun to see how everyone’s crowns are different. Such a fun reflection of their personality!
Children are one of my very favorite subject to photograph. They are uninhibited, real, and so free!
I had an old friend from college, who by the way is living my dream life right now in Europe, contact me about getting some pictures snapped of her babies and niece while they were in town. Since I hadn’t seen her in literally a decade jumped on it. We did a quick session in my backyard. The shade was dreamy and her babies are so beautiful. Check out these darling little ones!
My life has gotten significantly busier in the last couple of months. It can be so easy to want to reach over and push the snooze button on my alarm but certain things don’t snooze these days… like a baby in the next room. I also have two businesses that I run, Blush Boutique and a photography biz which keep me on my toes and up late most nights. Sometimes I find that being a mom, a girl boss, a wife, friend, daughter, target shopper, etc… can be so daunting that I need to take the time to recenter and focus on what is important.
Where in the world did this past year go? Seriously.
It has been a whirlwind of a year but we celebrated our little Mancub this past month and dedicated his life to the Lord. The fact that we had a baby in the first place was a huge miracle and we firmly believe that God gave us our little one for a purpose. My prayer was always Hannah’s prayer in 1 Samuel and we knew that if we were ever gifted a baby, we would dedicate him back to the Lord (meaning we would raise him the best we could in accordance to the Bible).
We were joined by close friends and family as we celebrated his life, prayed over him, and asked those who have walked along with us to help us raise him. What a village we have!
It has been such a fun year. 365 days of smiles, laughter, teething, giggles, snuggles, diaper changes, runny noses, lullabies, kisses, tears, books read,… what a wonderful year.
Even though I definitely cried in the Target aisle while buying ice cream toppings because my baby is growing up, I can’t wait to see what kind of man the Lord makes our little mancub!
